When I was a kid I really wanted to build a fort in our back yard.  My brother and I originally started to the mess of building materials and loud noises, and after a few weeks we had a nice little structure.

However, that was not enough of a challenge for my excited dreams.  I decided what would make the fort so much cooler would be a hand crank elevator.  All it took was one inspiring visit to a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit at the local museum to realize I could actually do it with some ball bearings and lots of rope.

I made a model... then made the dream happen.
